WOODLAND OPERA HOUSE

340 2nd Street Woodland Ca. 95776

Historical Landmark # 851

The original Woodland Opera House was constructed in 1885 , then a fire destroyed it and many other buildings in the downtown area. The Opera House was rebuilt in 1892 using many of the original bricks and other materials that were salvaged from the fire. In the devastation of the fire , a volunteer fire fighter by the name of William Porter lost his life when the structure caved in on him. In remembrance , there is a small commemoration which displays a photo of William and highlights of his life.

Visitors and Employees of the Opera House have had paranormal experiences that

range from witnessing full body apparitions , objects falling , voices and one individual claims that she was tapped on the shoulder .

The Investigation took place in February of 2009 between the hours of

8:00 pm and 12:00 am . Four members of P.O.S.T (Jason , Carla , Ryan & Mandy).

we drove 4 ½ hours from Tehachapi Ca. to Woodland Ca. In hopes to observe and authenticate paranormal activity . After a tour given by ( Matt) a long time friend and employee of the Opera House , we set up the necessary equipment then we split up in teams of two and began a thorough inspection and investigation that lasted a lengthy four hours.

With all of the equipment ( Five infrared cameras that were aimed at various points of interest , two EMF detectors , 3 EVP recorders, one ambient temperature gage, one camcorder with sony IR light, one full spectrum camera and one standard digital camera ) We were not able to validate the claims of paranormal activity.

However we did find practical explanations.

In the basement also known as ‘the greenroom’ there was an off the chart electromagnetic field soaring throughout this space . There were electrical boxes that were emitting high EMF readings, these readings were detected in the walls which were brick and through the floors as well.

During the investigation of this atmosphere , three of our Investigators began

to get headaches , ringing in the ears and a little light headiness

Also , one of our cameras captured a very plump rat as he stirred around with

free run of the basement. Could this be the reason that object fall off the tables and shelves ? It’s a good possibility .

Now we move on to the acoustics of the theater and how impeccable they were.

It seemed that no matter where you were in the theater , you could hear the conversations and the happenings from every room as well as the outside areas . One example in particular takes place in the basement when a by passer in the outside parking lot is heard talking on their cell phone, getting into their car , starting the car , cranking up their radio and then drive away .

In addition to the evidence that was collected , we found no EVP’s . However we did catch a lot of cross contamination as one team swept through the second story and the other team swept through the basement.

We also collected over 200 still photos that were taken with a full spectrum camera and about 100 photos were taken with a standard digital camera. Nothing paranormal was

captured from these photos . However there is the fact that in the greenroom , there are many mirrors , manikins, clothes hanging and lighting contaminations that could be catching ones peripheral vision, making one believe that they have witnessed a spirit or paranormal activity .

In conclusion we would like to add that the claims made by various people in connection to the Opera House are yet to be validated . P.O.S.T did not

capture or experience anything to support the claims made by many ;This does not mean that the claims were exaggerated, fabricated, or untrue.

In this this Full spectrum photo#1 note the yellow X's in the back ground vary high EMF reading from these electrical boxes. The second is also a full spectrum photo this electrical box was on the other side of the wall opposite the first photo.
